There was a Liv Morgan-Becky Lynch Steel Cage Match in the main event of WWE Raw this week.
It’s WWE Raw from the Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia with Michael Cole and Pat McAfee on commentary.
The new King of the Ring GUNTHER started the show after an introduction from Ludwig Kaiser. Gunther talked about bringing prestige to the Intercontinental TItle, so he’ll do it for King of the Ring and when he becomes World Heavyweight Champion too. Gunther took shots at Priest for how he won the World Title via Money in the Bank. Damian Priest walked out there to say that’s how the business worked. Priest told Gunther he respects him in the ring and he respected him as Intercontinental Champion. Priest wondered what Gunther could teach him that he didn’t already know. Priest mentioned SummerSlam, so that brought out Drew McIntyre, who faces Priest at Clash at the Castle on June 15th.
When Drew McIntyre got in the ring, he trashed CM Punk since there were Punk chants. Drew told Gunther and Priest that he’ll be champion in less than three weeks. Gunther left the ring. Priest said he’s not looking past Drew because he knows what is going to happen. Drew mentioned the vocal crowd at Clash at the Castle in Wales when the fans cheered him. Drew said that they were going to be in Scotland, which is his country. Drew did a geography lesson saying that Scottish people are wild and those fans are going to break Priest’s spirit. Drew said that he just got cleared and he’s about to take Priest’s bloody title.
Priest said that’s your best shot at him? Priest said he’s made a living of proving people wrong. Priest asked Drew if his wife would be there and what’s her name? Drew threatened him after that. Priest said he couldn’t care less if she was going to be there. Priest said that he wondered if Drew was man enough to do something about it when Priest got under his skin. Braun Strowman’s music hit for the interruption. Strowman stared at Priest while McIntyre left the ring. Strowman had a match up next.
Match #1: Braun Strowman defeated JD McDonagh by pinfall. Strowman won with a powerslam.
After the match, Strowman was attacked by Finn Balor and Carlito, but he dumped them out of the ring. JD hit Braun with a steel chair. Braun didn’t go down and Braun chased after them.
There was a scene from earlier today. Ricochet was shown getting his ribs checked by the WWE Trainer, who cleared Ricochet to compete. Ricochet wanted to face Bron Breakker, but Raw GM Adam Pearce said Bron wasn’t there because he was fined and suspended due to what happened last week. Ilja Dragunov walked in and thanked Ricochet for what he did last week since Ricochet pushed Ilja out of the way of Bron’s attack. Ricochet wanted a match with Dragunov tonight. Ilja said he didn’t want to fight a man that was broken. Ricochet said that medical cleared him, so Pearce booked the match.
Match #2: Ricochet defeated Ilja Dragunov by disqualification. The match ended abruptly when Bron Breakker went into the ring and hit RIcochet with a Spear. Ilja tried to attack Bron, but Bron hit him with a Spear too. After the match, Adam Pearce announced further punishment to Bron Breakker.
The New Day were talking to Awesome Truth about a possible match. After Awesome Truth left, Kariron Kross went up to New Day and tried to convince Xavier Woods to leave the New Day. Woods refused and challenged AOP to a match next week.
Match #3: Authors of Pain – Akam & Rezar (w/Karrion Kross, Scarlett & Paul Ellering) defeated The Creed Brothers – Julius & Brutus Creed (w/Ivy Nile). Scarlett shoved Nile into the steel steps which led to Brutus getting knocked down to the floor. Julius was left alone against both AOP guys and took the loss.
Sheamus did an in-ring promo talking about the King of the Ring tournament delivering banger after branger. Sheamus talked about how Ludwig Kaiser attacked him and then Kaiser bragged about it. Kaiser said that Sheamus was never going to win King of the Ring because Gunther was in it and won it. Kaiser kept talking, so Sheamus went backstage to fight with Kaiser. The fight spilled out to the area by the entrance, so officials broke it up quickly.
Match #4: Lyra Valkyria defeated Kairi Sane (w/Dakota Kai) by pinfall. Sane went for the Insane Elbow off the top, Lyra had the feet up to block. Lyra hooked the arms of Sane for the pinfall win.
The Judgment Day was in the clubhouse where Damian Priest was with Finn Balor and Carlito. Priest asked Carlito why was he there? Carlito said he was just hanging out and left for his match. JD McDonagh walked in saying he was running away from Braun Strowman. Priest wondered if he had to handle that. Priest mentioned JD talking to Liv Morgan backstage. JD told Priest he told Liv that she won’t be Women’s Champion for long. Dominik walked in so Priest talked to him alone. Priest wondered what Dominik was doing and asked if Dom talked to Ripley. Dominik said he did and Dominik said he told Rhea Ripley he’s going to fix it. Priest told Dominik he better fix it and said he wouldn’t want to be in Dom’s shoes.
Match #5:Rey Mysterio (w/Dragon Lee & Zelina Vega) defeated Carlito by pinfall. Rey won with a 619 kick and Dropping the Dime splash.
After the match, the LWO guys fought with Finn Balor and Carlito. Damian Priest showed up to help Balor and Carlito, so he hit Dragon Lee with a Razor’s Edge. Priest also hit South of Heaven on Rey.
Match #6: Bronson Reed defeated Otis (w/Chad Gable) by pinfall. Reed won with a Tsunami splash. Gable was yelling at Otis throughout the match.
Chad Gable did an in-ring segment where he verbally berated Otis, Akira Tozawa & Maxxine Dupri. Gable was furious about Otis’ actions, so he wanted to whip Otis with a leather belt. Instead, Dupri saved Otis. Sami Zayn also interrupted and told Otis to listen to the fans rather than listen to Gable. Things got physical when Gable attacked Zayn and hit him with a German Suplex. Gable stood over Zayn with the Intercontinental Title. The fans chanted “Let’s go Otis” to end it.
Match #7: Liv Morgan defeated Becky Lynch in a Women’s World Championship Steel Cage Match by escaping the cage through the door. Dominik Mysterio opened the door, so Finn Balor & JD McDonagh showed up wondering what he was doing. That brought out Braun Strowman, who chased the J-Day guys from ringside and that also included Braun hitting Dominik, who accidentally slammed a door on Lynch, who was in the ring by the door. Lynch was knocked down so Morgan got out of the ring by exiting through the door to win the match.
Liv Morgan celebrated with her Women’s World Title. Cole was screaming about Dominik screwing it up again. Liv had a staredown with Dominik in the aisle. That’s when the show went off the air. However, there was more on WWE’s Twitter/X page. That’s when Liv leaned forward, grabbed Dominik by the head, and kissed him on the lips. Dominik didn’t really fight it and Liv stopped the kiss. Liv was laughing about it. That’s where the show ended.
